If you are on a diet, then salads should be your best friend. Not only are they made with fresh ingredients but are also known to be bursting with nutrients. However, most people abstain from having salads due to the bland taste and go for creamy and sauce-drenched dishes with oodles of fat in them. Thus instead of losing weight they end up putting on more weight than usual.

The idea is to look for certain salad recipes that are easy to make, healthy and most of all tasty. To begin with, why not go for this spinach salad. Spinach being the core ingredient, this salad is enriched with iron, vitamins as well as other nutrients and is designed to stay true to the nutrition concept. It bears evidence that a salad without a creamy dressing can taste yummy too.

That is why it calls for only a splash of lemon juice and good lug of oil to dress up the leafy greens. While the lemon juice gives a hint of tanginess, the olive oil keeps it from appearing too dry for your taste and preserves the crunchy flavors of the spinach.  Simple yet full of natural goodness, both in terms of health and flavors!

Ingredients:

  • 1 large bunch fresh spinach
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 green onions, chopped
  • 1 lemon, juiced
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste

Method:

  • Rinse the spinach under running water and drain it out.
  • Chop it roughly and set aside for several minutes.
  • Give it a tight squeeze to get rid of any excess moisture and dump it into a medium salad bowl.
  • Add rest of the ingredients into it and toss to coat well.
  • Serve right away for quick dinner or as a side dish.
