Chocolate and strawberry are a few of our favorite things. We are sure that like most of us, even you would love to gorge on them; but alas the whole quest of becoming thin and losing weight makes them a strict no-no.

Staying healthy, losing weight and also eating tasty food all at once seem to be simply unattainable and an impossible feat to achieve! But our dear Drilldoggy has successfully achieved this near-to-impossible combination in chocolate-strawberry donuts.

This chocolicious donut is an absolute pleasure for your sweet tooth. But it’s the strawberry surprise within these baked goodies which makes them snacks worth dying for. With more melted chocolate on top, it turns into a choco-lover’s dream come true. But in spite of lots of chocolate in it, it’s actually very healthy owing to the lack of gluten, fat and refined sugar in it. So munch on them without a single streak of guilt in you and enjoy it to the fullest.

Ingredients:

Serves: 6

  • ¾ cup fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup + 2/3 cup dark chocolate chips, divided
  • 1 tbsp coconut flour
  • 2 cups almond flour
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup +1 tbsp cup coconut oil
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • Dash of sea salt

Method:

  • Warm up your oven to 350 degrees F.
  • Stir the coconut flour, cocoa powder, baking soda as well as a pinch of sea salt into the almond flour until well combined and sift them into a large bowl.
  • Whisk the eggs, ¼ cup coconut oil, honey and a splash of vanilla extract together into a pale-yellow, uniform mixture and pour it over the dry ingredients.
  • Fold them together to mix thoroughly into a uniform and smooth batter.
  • Sprinkle the sliced strawberries and ¼ cup of chocolate chips over it and fold in until evenly distributed in the batter.
  • Coat a donut pan with few drops of coconut oil and fill it up with the batter.
  • Bake in the hot oven for 25 minutes and set aside to cool completely.
  • Meanwhile, place rest of the chocolate chips into a double boiler and spoon in the remaining oil.
  • Heat until the mixture melts completely and drizzle it over the cooled donuts to form criss-cross lines.
  • Serve and munch away.
