You must be tired of having porridge every single day of the week. Serving the same menu can actually make your children skip the breakfast and when it is as boring as porridge, their resentment increases manifold. But skipping breakfast can invite a whole lot of health issues!

As the name suggests it means breaking a fast. Needless to say, the first meal of the day should be heavy and filling. The idea is to kick start the day on a healthy note. Research has often pointed out that those who have often opted for skipping breakfast have actually ended up gaining more weight than losing the same. And a bowl of porridge fits the bill perfectly. The porridge is known to provide your body all the necessary forms of nutrients and vitamins. But how can you make your family eat porridge without a single protest coming over the breakfast table?

Drilldoggy suggest you to jazz it up with a hint of spices and mash in few bananas to make it tasty and healthy at the same time. Swap normal milk for coconut and almond milk to make it healthy and use flax as well as almond meal instead of oats. Try it and see the difference.

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup flax meal
  • ¾ cup almond meal
  • 2 cups coconut milk
  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/8 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • 1/8 tsp celtic sea salt
  • Raw honey, as required
  • Berries, nuts or coconut flakes, for garnishing

Method:

  • Dump all its ingredients, except the ones for garnishing,  into a medium saucepan and heat until it starts simmering.
  • Cook while stirring constantly until bubbles start popping on the surface and the mixture turns thick.
  • Spoon it into serving bowls and scatter few berries, coconut flakes or nuts on top for more flavors.
