Weight Loss French Toast

We all love to have French toast for breakfast. It’s a hit especially among kids! However, a fitness enthusiast would think twice before frying a batch of French toast owing to the white flour bread as the core ingredient. However our Drilldoggy has added a twist to this classic recipe and whipped it up with the weight loss banana bread.

The sweetness of the banana bread teams up with the savory flavors of the French toast to turn every bite into an awesome gastronomic indulgence. A hint of spiciness of the cinnamon adds to its wonder!

While a French toast alone can keep you full till lunch, but feel free to pair it with various freshly chopped fruits like cherries, fresh berries or even banana slices tossed in maple syrup to make it healthier and yummier at one go! If you are too lazy to chop, blend in cocoa powder to envelop the French toast with chocolaty goodness or pep it up with a nutty undertone with ground hazelnuts in it. Ingredients:

Serves: 6-8

  • 1 weight loss banana bread loaf
  • ¼ cup almond milk
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 4 eggs
  • Pinch of sea salt
  • Olive oil, for frying

Method:

  • Cut the loaf into ½’’ thick slices and save for later.
  • Crack the eggs in a mixing bowl and whisk in a splash of almond milk, cinnamon and sea salt until well combined.
  • Warm up a skillet over moderate heat, to 350 degrees F and slather a lashing of olive oil; heat it up until it shimmers.
  • Dip the banana bread slices, one at a time, into this egg mixture and lay it out onto the hot skillet.
  • Cook each side for 3-4 minutes or until the egg mixture sets and the coating browns slightly.
  • Make rest of the French toast in a similar fashion and dish them out onto serving plates.
  • Serve warm alongside a splash of maple syrup or fresh fruits.
